Speaker: Narrator

"God created man in his own image."

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Context

So God has created the heavens, the earth, day, night, sky, land, seas, plants, trees, seasons, the sun, the moon (who knows how he created day and night before the sun and the moon, but whatever), animals for flying, animals for swimming, animals for eating...and bugs.

But who cares about all this until he creates humans? And here's the good stuff: according to the Bible, we all look just like God.

Wait, does that mean God looks like Peter Lorre and Channing Tatum at the same time? Yikes.

Where you've heard it

You've heard this from anyone who believes that we humans are the be-all end-all of life as we know it...or anyone who's just quoting the Bible.

God follows up with "let them have dominion over…" basically everything, so some people use this quote as proof that humans are intended to cause the extinction of species, contribute to global warming, and basically use up the Earth like an old Kleenex.

Because God said so.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Unless you're majorly misinterpreting the quote, you're probably okay to reference it.
