Source: The Princess Bride

Speaker: Miracle Max

Have fun storming the castle!

Context

This famous line is spoken by Miracle Max, played by Billy Crystal, in The PrincessBride (directed by Rob Reiner, 1987).

After explaining the difference between being "mostly dead" and "all dead," Miracle Max revives Westley, who thankfully was only mostly dead.

You'd think he'd want a bowl or cereal or a hamburger or something after being dead, but he and his pals rush off to Humperdinck's castle for the final battle. Miracle Max and his wife send them off with the cheery good-bye, "Have fun storming the castle!"

Where you've heard it

When not playing Miracle Max, Billy Crystal cleans up quite nicely. This is one of the nine-time Oscar host's most memorable lines in his career.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

This is a good way to say goodbye to someone, no matter where they're going—a castle, work, the dump, McDonald's. Anywhere.
