Speaker: Alex Forrest

I won't be ignored, Dan!

Context

This line is spoken by Alex Forrest (played by Glenn Close) in the movie Fatal Attraction, directed by Adrian Lyne (1987).

Fatal Attraction could also be called Reasons Not to Have an Affair, or at least Reasons Not to Have an Affair with a Psycho. In this blockbuster thriller, Glenn Close plays Alex Forrest, a lady who gets obsessed with a married dude named Dan (Michael Douglas), with whom she has a fling. Alex does all kinds of bad stuff like slit her wrists, get all stalk-y with Dan's wife, and boil Dan's daughter's pet rabbit. She yells out the line in question after she and Dan have just gotten into a wrestling match.

Where you've heard it

The quote gets referenced in a couple of episodes of Gilmore Girls, but the thing from the film that really stuck in people's minds was the whole bunny-boiling incident. In fact, "bunny boiler" has now become slang for any potentially stalk-y woman. Maybe you heard it used that way in episodes of Californication or The Vampire Diaries.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Fatal Attraction is full-on entertainment for the masses (bunnies aside), so there's nothing too snooty about it.
