Speaker: "Hot Lips" Houlihan

"Kiss my hot lips."

Oh, Frank, my lips are hot. Kiss my hot lips.

Context

This line is spoken by "Hot Lips" Houlihan (played by Sally Kellerman) in the movie M*A*S*H, directed by Robert Altman (1970).

M*A*S*H is a dark comedy about a pack of wise-cracking army surgeons during the Korean War. The ringleaders are Hawkeye, Trapper, and Duke, who like to make life miserable for Maj. Frank Burns because they think he's a crap surgeon and an all-around jerkface. As a joke, they slip a microphone under Burns's cot when he's having sex with the head nurse, Houlihan. When her sexy talk of hot lips is broadcast over the camp, Houlihan earns a nickname she'll never live down—not even in the long-running TV show that followed the film.

Where you've heard it

The 1975 movie The Stepford Wives did a similar scene with characters eavesdropping on other characters having sex. The same "broadcast somebody having sex" prank is also pulled in Give Me An F, some random cheerleader movie from the '80s that nobody's ever seen.

Still, the version of this stunt you've most likely seen is in the much more recent movie This is Where I Leave You, in which a baby monitor broadcasts a sexual encounter to a whole room of people sitting Shiva (awkward).

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

No, it's not pretentious, but be careful to whom you say it. There's no telling who might be listening.
