Speaker: Short Round

"Hey, Dr. Jones. No time for love!"

Hey, Dr. Jones. No time for love! We've got company!

Context

This line was spoken by Short Round (played by Jonathan Ke Quan) in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, directed by Steven Spielberg (1984).

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is the weirder, more violent, and slightly racist prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. The heart ripping scene alone has caused nightmares for generations of kids. But one of the highlights (or lowlights, depending on who you talk to) of the movie is Indiana Jones' sidekick, Short Round.

Short Round is a young Chinese boy with wicked comedic timing and the mutant ability to always have his Yankees hat on, even in the middle of an intense action set piece. One of Short Round's best one-liners comes when he thinks that Indy is about to steal a kiss from his leading lady, Willie Scott, in the middle of a chase scene.

Short Round's shrill voice snaps the action hero back to, well, action. And they end up saving children from slavery and find a missing sacred stone for the village of Mayapore. Nice.

Sometimes people need to reminded of the more important things in life, like making evasive maneuvers while getting chased by a death cult.
