Snap out of it!

Context

This line is spoken by Loretta Castorini, played by Cher, in the movie Moonstruck, directed by Norman Jewison (1987).

Moonstruck is a classic 80s comedy about a Sicilian-American widow named Loretta, who has an affair with a dude named Ronny (played by Nicolas Cage), who happens to be the younger brother of her fiancé. This quote comes during a morning-after scene, when Loretta freaks out after waking up beside Ronny again. After he tells her that he loves her, she slaps him and tells him to "Snap out of it!"

Ouch.

Where you've heard it

This line popped up on NCIS when Dinozzo points out that screenwriter/playwright John Patrick Shanley wrote the sorta lame Joe Versus the Volcano before winning an Oscar for Moonstruck. Dinozzo then punctuates his point with the classic quote, "Snap out of it!"

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Nope, it's not a pretentious line, but we recommend not slapping anyone if you choose to drop this one at a party. That might put a damper on the festivities.
