Context

This line is spoken by the Squeeze Toy Aliens (voiced by Jeff Pidgeon) in the film Toy Story (1995) directed by John Lasseter.

Out of all religions, both real and fictional, the worship of the Claw is one of the most fascinating. Plastic green aliens and one delusional, laser-wielding spaceman think that a claw game can bring them some kind of salvation—or at least a ride back home to Buzz Lightyear's home planet so he can fight. Boy, are they wrong.

The claw doesn't transport Buzz, Woody, and their little green friends to galaxies far far away, but to the play-thing dungeon that is Sid's house. There, they're tortured for his pleasure, and they almost end up being blown to smithereens.

Thankfully, the characters of Toy Story just gaze at the abyss and don't end up hanging out there and end up safe and happy with their original owner, Andy. Not even the deity that is the Claw could get in their way.

Where you've heard it

If you haven't seen Toy Story, why are you reading this article? It's one of the best movies of all time so you should go watch it. (100% on Rotten Tomatoes, folks.) On a more serious note, this is a great line to use while you're playing the money pit that is the actual claw game.

In Toy Story 3, the Squeeze Toy Aliens' faith is rewarded as they use a new version of the Claw—a construction crane—to save the main cast from being burnt to a crisp by an evil, purple teddy bear.

And if you have a god complex or are just a big Toy Story fan, you can purchase your own version of the Claw here.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

You can't go wrong with a Pixar quote, especially one that satirizes scams and such.
