Written by Kenny Younk and Arthur Resnick and first recorded by the Drifters, "Under the Boardwalk" is a summer classic. Tons of other famous artists have put their stamp on it over the years, including Billy Joel, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, John Mellencamp, and Bruce Willis.

Where you've heard it

A recent resurfacing of the song and its catchy chorus happened at a Hurricane Sandy relief concert and featured Jimmy Fallon, Steven Tyler, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen. It was cool, except for the inexplicable choice of having Jimmy Fallon take the lead vocal. Here's the clip.
