Source: Walk the Line

Speaker: Johnny Cash

"I walk the line."

Because you're mine, I walk the line.

Context

This famous line is from the song "I Walk the Line" by Johnny Cash (from his album With His Hot and Blue Guitar, 1956).

We're not sure the line between fidelity and infidelity is all that fine, but Johnny Cash says his song "I Walk the Line" is a "proclamation of fidelity."  When the temptations are strong enough, it can be easy to stray off course. The man in black knows all about that.

Where you've heard it

The 2005 Johnny Cash biopic called Walk the Line takes its title from this song and stars Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, who burn burn burn up the screen like a ring of fire.

Iggy Azalea also has a song about walking lines called "Walk the Line."

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

The line between fidelity and infidelity isn't that thin. We're not saying it's easy, but there's a pretty bold divider between the two. This line is more like walking along a highway median than a tightrope, but you still don't want to stumble into the road.
