Speaker: John Mayer

Your body is a wonderland.

Context

This line is from the song "Your Body is a Wonderland" by John Mayer, from the album Room for Squares (2001).

Mayer has said that this song was inspired by his first girlfriend back when he was fourteen. You have to wonder how that girl feels now, hearing her body sung about for everyone to hear.

The lyric in question is describing a kind of experience that you could get lost in forever. Luckily for the world of children's literature, Alice's adventure in the original Wonderland was a little less steamy.

Where you've heard it

Besides that time your S.O. sang it to you while trying to be sexy, you might remember when Michael Scott and Andy Bernard sang this line to each other on The Office. (It's unclear as to whether or not they were trying to be sexy.) Or you might have heard it on that episode of Family Guy where Stewie makes fun of the way John Mayer says "bah-dy."

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

It's totally cool to break this one out at a party—just make sure you say it to the right person at the right moment or things could get very awkward.
