Character Role Analysis

Willy Harris

Props, Willy. You never set foot onstage and yet you’re one of show’s villains. We constantly hear from Walter about his great friend Willy, who gets him interested in a liquor store business, takes him drinking when he skips work, and oh, yeah, steals all his money.

Karl Lindner

As bad as Willy is, he’s got competition in the form of Karl Lindner. What makes Karl worse as an antagonist, however, is that he represents not just himself, but an entire community of whites who do not want the Younger family in their neighborhood.
