Malachy McCourt Sr. Timeline and Summary

Malachy McCourt Sr. is born in Toome, Country Antrim.
He moves to America where he meets Angela Sheehan and marries her after he learns she's pregnant with his child.
In August, Malachy Sr.'s first son, Francis aka Frank, is born.
A year later, Malachy Sr.'s second son, Malachy Jr., is born.
Malachy Sr. looks for a job, finds one, and then loses it.
About a year later, Malachy Sr.'s (only) daughter, Margaret is born. She dies seven weeks later.
Malachy is driven to despair by the loss and his drinking gets worse.
Depressed and hungry, The McCourt family head back to Ireland and settle in Limerick.
Malachy's son Oliver dies and six months later, Eugene, Oliver's twin brother dies.
Malachy Sr.'s son, Michael, is born.
Malachy Sr. gets a job in a cement factory, but then gets drunk and loses it.
His last son, Alphonsus aka Alphie, is born but he drinks away the money that his father sends for the baby.

He heads to England to do wartime work. He visits his family during Christmas and then never returns.
Eventually, Malachy Sr. returns to Belfast "in his declining years" and dies at the local hospital.
