The Book of Margery Kempe Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG

Kempe's general failing is the sin of lechery, so there are moments of disembodied genitalia and attempted adultery. Since Kempe is trying to separate herself from marital life, there's also some general discussion of the "conjugal debt," and there are also some vows of chastity. To top it off, Kempe's handling of theological language to discuss spiritual union with Christ often gives off an incestuous vibe, which can make for several cringeworthy moments.

But seriously, folks, this is a churchy text by someone who isn't considered a heretic, so it's only going to get so juicy. We're stamping this with a solid PG.
