Sansón Carrasco Timeline and Summary

  • The first we hear about Sansón is from Sancho, who says that Sansón has come across a book that describes the adventures that Don Quixote and Sancho experienced in Part 1 of Cervantes's story. Sancho goes out to find Carrasco and bring him to Don Quixote to give an account of what he's read.
  • After Carrasco tells Sancho and the Don what he's read, he says that the two are totally famous and that he's humbled to know such great men. Of course, he's just messing around with them.
  • Sansón then tells Don Quixote about a fighting tournament going on in the city of Zaragoza and says Don Quixote should go win it.
  • A few days later, Don Quixote's housekeeper runs up to Sansón and says that somehow, Don Quixote has gotten the idea of going out in search of adventures again. Sansón tells her to cook him a nice breakfast and he'll come over to see what he can do. Once he's back at Don Quixote's house, he tells him a second time to head out into the world.
  • Once Don Quixote has left again, Sansón figures that he can totally burst the knight's bubble by dressing up as a knight himself and forcing Don Quixote to head back home.
  • Unfortunately, Don Quixote defeats Sansón (a.k.a. the Knight of the Mirrors) in a duel, and Sansón ends up badly injured. He swears vengeance on Don Quixote for this defeat.
  • Many, many chapters later, Sansón shows up again, this time as the Knight of the White Moon. He challenges Don Quixote to another duel and defeats him, thus ending Don Quixote's adventures by making him promise (on his honor) to return home for at least a year.
  • On his way home, Sansón informs the Duke and Duchess that Don Quixote and Sancho are on their way. This way, the Duke and Duchess can have a few more laughs at Don and Sancho before they make it back home.
