Dory (Ellen DeGeneres)’s Timeline and Summary
- Dory's a blue tang fish that suffers from short-term memory loss.
- One day, she runs into a clownfish named Marlin looking for a boat. She tells the clownfish to follow her.
- Dory starts swimming, but this weird clownfish is following her. Hey, back off, buddy.
- Ooops; it's just Dory's short-term memory loss striking again. This is always happening to her.
- Just then, some sharks come up and invite Dory and Marlin to a party.
- During the party, Marlin sees a diver's mask. They just need to find a fish who can read. Maybe the sharks can, Dory suggests?
- But, Marlin doesn't like Dory's plan and they fight over mask. Dory winds up getting whacked in the face and bleeding, which sends the big shark into a frenzy. As Marlin and Dory are trying to escape the sharks, Dory remembers she can read. Huh? How about that.
- Dory releases a missile into the shark's mouth and it bumps into those party balloons/underwater land mines from before. Boom.
- Dory and Marlin wake up inside the mask and fall down into a dark abyss in the ocean. There, they run into an anglerfish.
- Dory tries to read the mask using the light from anglerfish, but Marlin just won't cooperate. Finally, she reads the address and the anglerfish gets trapped in the mask. Score.
- Marlin and Dory head towards the address in Sydney when they run into some moonfish. The fish give Dory directions, but tell her to swim through a nearby trench, not over it. Dory forgets this, naturally.
- While swimming over the trench, Dory and Marlin are attacked by jellyfish. Dory gets knocked unconscious, but Marlin rescues her.
- Dory and Marlin wind up with some sea turtles on the East Australian Current.
- When they get close to Sydney, Dory tries to flag down a whale to ask for directions. Luckily, she speaks whale. The whale swallows them whole, but lets them know that everything's gonna be okay. So there's that.
- The whale ends up spitting Dory and Marlin out in Sydney Harbour. They spend the night searching for the boat that took Nemo.
- The next morning, Dory and Marlin get scooped up by a pelican, but Marlin refuses to be eaten. Luckily, another pelican rescues them and takes them up to the dentist's office where Nemo's being held captive.
- Dory, Marlin, and Nigel rush through the office window and create a commotion, but Nemo's dead already. Alas, poor Nemo.
- Back in the harbor, Marlin leaves Dory behind even though she begs him not to go. She gets confused and starts to roam around until she runs into a small clownfish named Nemo who offers to help.
- Finally, Dory remembers. This is Nemo. They've gotta find Marlin.
- As father and son are reunited, Dory is swept up into a fisherman's net with some tuna. But Nemo swims in to save her and all the fish are freed.
- Dory heads back to the Great Barrier Reef with Marlin and Nemo where she's happy to hang out with her new friends. And, we're guessing, remember a lot more stuff.
