Character Analysis
Alicia Spinnet is a Gryffindor sixth year. She's good friends with Angelina Johnson; she also plays Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. As Quidditch season starts up, Alicia Spinnet becomes a victim of the bad feeling between the Slytherin and Gryffindor teams. She is sitting in the library when Slytherin Keeper Miles Bletchley jinxes her from behind with a spell that makes her eyebrows grow so "thick and fast they obscured her vision and obstructed her mouth" (19.21). Gross. Professor Snape is so biased towards the Slytherins that he claims she must have made up a Hair-thickening charm, even though fourteen witnesses saw Bletchley cast the spell. Unfair! No wonder Hogwarts seems so divided internally.
