Adam Pulver

Character Analysis

Meet the only 17-year-old in all of Wisconsin (perhaps in all of America) to wish for a button-making machine as he's blowing out the candles on his birthday cake.

As the President of the Students for Political Freedom Coalition, Adam spearheads the drive to get G.T. on the ballot for the mayoral election. He makes "Stoop for Mayor" buttons that Hope says "were a little off-center" (88)—kind of like the campaign slogan he comes up with: STOOP FOR MAYOR: HE'LL DIE TRYING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER—and rallies the troops of student volunteers with his cries of "Now let's get out there and do something for America" (49). He might be a bit overzealous, but he knows how to get votes and is largely responsible for getting G.T. on the ballot.
