Character Analysis
Dev seems to be the exotic lover Miranda always dreamed about—good looking, a gentleman, passionate. He first hits on her at a department store cosmetics counter. He opens her eyes to new experiences and teaches her about his native country. Big problem: he's married. This puts all those romantic qualities in a different light, doesn't it? He's cheating on his wife while she's back in India, and doesn't even bother trying to convince Miranda that his wife isn't beautiful. Ultimately we see that he's at heart just a player, who doesn't even protest that much when Miranda ends the relationship.
