Mary Hatch (Donna Reed)’s Timeline and Summary

When they are kids, Mary whispers that she loves George into the bad ear he can't hear with.
Later on, when they are grown up, George and Mary hit it off at a high school dance—and Mary's spurned date pushes a button that opens the dance floor, causing them to fall into the swimming pool hidden beneath.
As George walks Mary back home, they bond, singing "Buffalo Gals" and throwing rocks at an old, abandoned house and making wishes after they break some windows.
Four years later, after Mary forces a mopey George to realize he loves her, George and Mary get married and move into the same abandoned house they were throwing rocks at earlier. Mary tells George that this is what she wished for.
They have four kids together. When George has his emotional meltdown, Mary and the kids pray for him.
Her prayers work. George realizes, after his time-warp trip with Clarence, how wonderful his life is.
Mary reunites with George, and they have a merry Christmas.
