Campbell Alexander Timeline & Summary

  • Campbell Alexander, who once sued God on behalf of a child and has a mysterious service dog (yet he won't tell anyone what the service is), decides to take on a new child client: Anna Fitzgerald, who was genetically engineered to donate blood to her sister, Kate, but doesn't want to do it anymore.
  • As part of the case, Anna is assigned a guardian ad litem: Julia Romano, who just so happens to be Campbell's ex-lady love from college.
  • Campbell and Julia have a bunch of will-they-or-won't-they romantic tension.
  • Turns out they will.
  • But Campbell leaves Julia again—this is officially a pattern with him.
  • On the legal side of things, Campbell gets Brian to agree that Anna should have the right to decide what to do with her own body.
  • But Brian ends up testifying in court that he thinks Anna should donate the kidney. Dang.
  • Campbell has a seizure in court and reveals that this is why he broke up with Julia in college; she still loves him even though he's a seizure-having idiot.
  • Still, Campbell wins the case (because it turns out Kate wants to die), and is given power of attorney over Anna.
  • Leaving the courthouse, Campbell and Anna are in a car accident and Anna dies.
  • Campbell decides to donate Anna's kidney to Kate, who lives.
  • Later, Campbell and Julia get married. Happily sort-of after?
