The Mail Train
- The dust is so out of control that it even stops the mail on the Santa Fe railway. When things finally get chugging again, Billie Jo gets a letter from her Aunt Ellis in Lubbock inviting her to come live with her.
- You might think that this would be Billie Jo's golden ticket out of the panhandle, but the truth is, living with Aunt Ellis would actually be worse than living at home. Her father tells her she should "wait and see" when she asks his opinion, but isn't sure what she's supposed to be waiting on or seeing.
