She holds a giant chain around the neck of Apep (or Apophis) every night to stop him from eating Ra and his boat of dead people. She's one of the Egyptian goddesses you invoke if you want to be a doctor or do some fancy magic. Legend even has it that Serqet's loyalty to Isis protects women who enter certain temples from being stung by scorpions. But ladies: we don't suggest you test this theory.
