Serqet

Serqet

Serqet may not be one of the Big Names in Egyptian mythology, but she's got a number of jobs that keep both gods and mortals safe. If she decided to skip out on work just once, all sorts of crazy stuff would go down. She holds a giant chain around the neck of Apep (or Apophis) every night to stop him from eating Ra and his boat of dead people. She's one of the Egyptian goddesses you invoke if you want to be a doctor or do some fancy magic. Legend even has it that Serqet's loyalty to Isis protects women who enter certain temples from being stung by scorpions. But ladies: we don't suggest you test this theory.
