Character Role Analysis

Soapy

Soapy is a self-destructive guy. He puts himself in a position to be abused by the general public. (Remember when he gets thrown on the sidewalk by the waiters?) When Soapy begins to realize this, we learn that he believes that his own choices, goals, and desires have put him in a position where he doesn't look out for himself well, and does things to get himself hurt.

The Cops, the Waiters, and the Judge

When Soapy wants to go to jail, the waiters won't call the cops and the cops won't arrest him. They are antagonists because they are working against the protagonist. When Soapy no longer wants to gets arrested and go to jail, he is arrested by a policeman and sentenced to prison by a judge. Since these guys are all going against Soapy's new plans, they are also antagonists.
