Hana (Juliette Binoche)’s Timeline and Summary

Hana, a war nurse, learns that her boyfriend was killed in war.
Then she watches as her friend Jan hits a land mine and explodes.
Hana is afraid that everyone she loves will die.
She takes her burned patient to a monastery so they don't have to keep loading and unloading him on the medical caravan.
Plus, she needs some alone time.
She reads to her patient and takes care of him, until David Caravaggio shows up and attempts to interrogate her patient.
Then, Kip, the minesweeper, shows up, and Hana falls in love with him.
But after Sergeant Hardy is killed in a horrible accident, Kip leaves. At least he didn't die!
At Almásy's request, Hana gives him an overdose of morphine.
She reads Katharine's last words to Almásy, and he dies.
Caravaggio helps Hana catch a ride to catch up with the rest of her medical unit, and she rides across the Italian countryside.
