Character Analysis
Ben is one of Henry's close friends. He has been infected with HIV by his ex-boyfriend, and still struggles with accepting his predicament. He runs a secret lab in his apartment where he makes and sells potent drugs to the terminally ill.
Although Henry doesn't reveal much about their past together, we learn that Ben has helped Henry out once in a while with his own "condition." In fact, Henry visits Ben because he needs a drug that will keep him in the present for his wedding. Henry asks his friend to make an antipsychotic that he's heard of on his travels to the future. Ben hesitates at first, but finally relents. When Henry tries out the drug, it almost kills him and Clare makes Ben promise to cut off his drug supply from Henry.
