mar 07 Learn More Kathryn Bigelow Wins Best Director
And the Oscar goes to… Kathryn Bigelow! And… it's about time! On this day in 2010, Bigelow became the first woman to win an Oscar for Best Director for her film The Hurt Locker. She was only the fourth woman to even be nominated for Best Director, which some might say suggests the Academy needs to turn of that old re-run of Matlock and, um, broaden its horizons.
