Jack London died on this day in 1916. Before the author wrote White Fang and The Call of the Wild, he was a pirate—an oyster pirate, that is. As a teen, London worked in a cannery and hated it. So, he borrowed some money from his foster mother, bought a boat, christened it "Razzle Dazzle," and started poaching oysters in the San Francisco Bay.
