PBIS: Commitment in Schoolwork 314 Views

Description:

Committing to your schoolwork is great. Until it starts asking where you’ve been all the time, and telling you you don’t work hard enough, and it could’ve been with anyone else, but no, it’s with you… Then it just gets kind of weird, clingy, and uncomfortable.

Thank you We sneak in commitment to schoolwork Allah shmoop

00:07

commitment can be a scary word And if you think

00:10

it's scary now just wait till you're older But even

00:14

though it's scary it's important making a commitment to doing

00:18

your homework is no different than committing to anything else

00:21

Except it hopefully won't result in two kids and a

00:23

dog on the line committing to doing your homework whether

00:28

you're making that commitment to your teacher your parents your

00:31

friends your tutor or even yourself basically a promise And

00:35

by keeping promises you build trust on by breaking them

00:38

you lose it So uh why bother You might ask

00:43

Well here's the thing about building trust trust equals freedom

00:46

Let's Look at this scenario tommy here promises his mom

00:49

he'll finish his homework But when tommy's mom leaves he's

00:54

faced with a choice to do his homework or tio

00:57

not do his homework that is the question After all

01:00

there are fun things happening outside of his room So

01:02

which is tommy Choose atta boy tommy But in the

01:06

interest of showing both sides of the story let's create

01:08

an evil untrustworthy twin of yours There are those who

01:12

call him jimmy's faced with the same choices as tommy

01:17

you work or to play and we're sure we have

01:20

no idea home my what a surprise but there couldn't

01:24

possibly be any negative repercussions from kimmy's decision right Well

01:28

fast forward to the next Tommy and timmy asked their

01:31

mom if they can hang out there Buddy dave's place

01:34

let's Ignore the fact that tommy's mom would probably totally

01:36

freak out if her son had suddenly been cloned and

01:38

we'll take a look at what hap Well would you

01:44

look at that tommy's Mom just gave them an entirely

01:47

unscripted answer But more importantly since he followed through with

01:50

his commitment he's become more trustworthy End therefore he's afforded

01:53

more freedom And what about timmy Wow what a natural

02:01

and honest depiction of what would happen in this exact

02:04

situation if it were in real life Well it looks

02:06

like it's important to follow through with commitment to school

02:08

work It'll please your teachers and parents and it's beneficial

02:11

to be seen as a trustworthy person And not is 00:02:14.47 --> [endTime] a freaky evil clone Is that right
