Power

Cancer is a disease (or, really, a hundred different types of related diseases), featuring abnormal cells in the human body playing a sickening game of divide and conquer (source). It can strike without warning, taking the infirm and the seemingly-healthy alike. Tumors become malignant and spread, and any part of the body can be at risk. It is indeed a formidable nemesis for humanity.

And you fight it. Seriously. You fight cancer.

Every day, you wake up, get dressed, and walk in to a laboratory of super-smart warriors, like a bunch of braniac Captain Americas. Using advanced equipment that would make Tony Stark jealous, you examine genes, analyze complex mathematical data, and stare at screens going, "Hmm, that's interesting." Sometimes, you use your Black Widow skills to trick cancerous cells into hurting themselves instead of others; while other times you smash them with a hammer (of immunotherapy).

Bonus: you cause a whole lot less mass destruction. (Source)

We're not saying you're an Avenger. After all, they're make-believe; you're real, and you actually get paid to be a hero.

This isn't power over people; this is power over people-killers. That said, there is definitely a hierarchy in the lab, so don't expect to be the Big Kahuna right off the bat. This isn't about individual achievement; it's about knowing your place in the team and working with it and within it to reach the ultimate goal.

The ultimate goal, of course, is defeating cancer, and you've got to go the distance. So get in there, Tyson; and, if you feel like biting an ear or two while you're going for the knockout, be our guest.
