Stress

While driving around all day doesn't seem like the most stressful job in the world―and occasionally a good way to de-stress―driving professionally is an incredibly high pressure position. There are many pressures to life as a chauffeur, including but not limited to:

  • Your client: You may have several clients throughout the day. You may end up doing "as needed" for one person from dawn until dusk. Regardless, their happiness is your happiness, and if they aren't happy, you are in for a long day.

  • Your car: Every time a new client steps into your vehicle, it has to be as if they are the first person to ever set foot in it, like an astronaut on the moon. It also needs to be in complete working order. You don't want to add "tow truck" and "furious fashionista" to your list of stresses.

  • Traffic: Short on time, slightly lost, in a hurry? Don't count on traffic to do you any favors. Maybe you'll have a speedy trip, but you're just as likely to hit every. Single. Light. We're sure your client will understand. Not.

  • Real life: Don't expect your family to stop and wait for you to finish a twelve-hour day driving around with Lady Buckminster and her seven pet corgis. They're going to continue growing (your kids, not the corgis). You'll have to find a way to balance the two, because some days you will not see the inside of your own house.

  • Parking: In most cities, parking is at a premium. Fire hydrants are everywhere, and most restaurants have valet services that take up the rest of the free spaces. If you drive a limousine, your trouble is doubled.
