It's the DMV. It's not going anywhere. Even if Congress starts taking apart government agencies like zombies on The Walking Dead, the DMV will be one of the last ones to get the axe (figuratively speaking). The question isn't whether it'll still be there in twenty years, it's whether you will be.
Many people don't look at the Department of Motor Vehicles as a lifetime position, but there are plenty of opportunities for growth from within. If you like where you work and decide to see where it takes you, by 2035 you could be running the place.
