In Hollywood, everyone is on an ego trip and likes to think they have ultimate power. And they do, over their assistants and those under them.
For a writer, even though the story starts with you, you are the last man or woman on the totem pole. You are mostly thought of as an expendable, replaceable content provider. It is said that bloggers get more respect than screenwriters, especially in Los Angeles, where everyone and their dog groomer has written or has an idea for a screenplay. You can, however, boss your assistant around if it makes you feel better.
