Odds of Getting In
There are no guarantees, but the odds of breaking in don't seem to be too bad.
In 2007, there were 434 PhD-level toxicology jobs in North America that went unfilled. It appears that the demand for toxicologists can't keep up with the supply (source).
That's got to mean something, right?
