General quality of life statement

Since cosmetology services is such a specific major, people graduating with this degree probably have a pretty good idea of what they want to do. Phew. You can wipe the sweat off your brow about that.

But finding a job is one thing. Finding a well-paying job is another. Cosmetologists usually do not rake in the dough like engineering or business majors. Somehow, beauty is not as important as engineering software. (What? How?) Don't worry, though; what you lack in cash, you will surely gain in personal fulfillment. So if you're passionate about making people feel and look good, this just might be the course of study for you.

Anyway, let's be real: People generally don't choose cosmetology services as a major to become a millionaire. They choose it because it's their passion. This might explain why people in a cosmetology-related field are generally happier than the average American. About 59% of cosmetologists think life's just peachy. That's pretty good, right?

Chances are pretty good that you'll have to log some serious hours in another person's salon once you have your license in hand. It's how you'll really hone your beautician chops, but importantly, it's also how you'll build your client base. So if and when you decide to take the leap and open your own salon, hopefully you'll have plenty of satisfied customers who will happily follow you, which increases your chances of success big time. You might not make a whole lot of money when you first start out, but you stand to double your income if you really stick with it and bring some business savvy with you to boot.

And of course, you don't have to just go the salon route. If you want to become a fashion writer, then start a blog or enroll in some writing classes. Maybe you can even get a journalism degree. You've got plenty of options.

So take a look in the mirror. Are you fabulous? Good. Looks like you're well on your way.
