Reading RF.K.2.B

Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words.

Long, multisyllabic words might be intimidating to kindergartners, but teaching them the skills needed to break those daunting words down into bite-sized pieces makes everything easier. This substandard ensures students can determine how many syllables are in a word, how the syllables are said on their own, and how they all fit together to form big words. Time to bring out the clap-out-the-syllables game.
