Writing W.K.1

Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose opinion pieces in which they tell a reader the topic or the name of the book they are writing about and state an opinion or preference about the topic or book (e.g., My favorite book is...).

You don't need to be a newspaper columnist to have opinions. Everyone's got 'em, even kindergartners. Like when little Jeff tells Mom that she should get a bra for her belly.

This standard's all about taking those opinions and putting them down on paper (well, maybe not all of them). They don't have to be fancy or controversial opinions. Simple fill-in-the-blank opinions about their favorite book or the best color will do just fine.
