Physical Danger

While cross-country isn't as dangerous as sports that consist mainly of people running into each other at high speeds (read: football), these athletes still have their own set of injuries to worry about. They often get injuries in their legs and feet because, well, running.

Knees, hamstrings, quadriceps, ankles, calves, heels, and feet are all susceptible to injury in this sport. What should you be afraid of? Tendinitis, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and stress fractures. Oh, my.

To avoid injury, you really need to not push yourself too hard too soon. And don't forget to stretch, warm up, and then stretch some more
