Scholarship Qualifications

Scholarships are available at most colleges with a cross-country program. Usually, you have to get accepted to the school before you're eligible for a cross-country scholarship. So you'll need solid test scores and a good GPA to increase your chances (source).

Shmoopers, take note: unless you run a national-caliber mile, you won't be winning a big-time scholarship to a top D-I program because the odds are pretty bleak. Cross-country is an equivalency sport, which means there's only a set number of funds available per team. Translation? Partial scholarships. Yep, the average cross-country scholarship is between $14,000 and $15,000 (source).

And seeing as your odds of getting in are around 7–9% (source), you better get serious about somethin' else. Like trigonometry. Who doesn't love trigonometry?
