The Ludovico Technique

Brainwashing = bad. That is the ultimate message the film wants you to walk away with. Kubrick himself said,

It is absolutely essential that Alex is seen to be guilty of a terrible violence against society, so that when he is eventually transformed by the State into a harmless zombie you can reach a meaningful conclusion about the relative rights and wrongs.

But Alex doesn't quite become a harmless zombie, does he? He can still think for himself; however, he becomes ill when he has a violent thought. That makes it a little more difficult to come to a conclusion about this controversial technique.
