Al Capone Does My Shirts Part 3, Chapter 35 Summary

The Truth

  • Moose gets home and everything is normal… until he drops the bomb. He goes into the kitchen and tells Mom that they can't keep pretending that Natalie is ten.
  • Mom flies off the handle. She justifies herself by saying that Natalie won't have as good of a chance of getting into school if they think she's almost an adult.
  • Dad comes in to calm her down. He gently scolds Moose and tells him that this is not the right time. Moose responds that the Esther P. Marinoff School probably knows how hold Natalie really is.
  • Out of curiosity, Dad asks Natalie how old she is. She responds that she's sixteen.
  • By now, Dad is crying, too. As tears pour down his face, he tells his children, both Moose and Natalie, how proud he is of them.
