  • One night after performing mass, Latour gets caught in a rainstorm and catches a bad cold.
  • He thinks that his end has come, but his new assistant friend Bernard assures him that he'll pull through and everything will be fine.
  • Latour decides to return to Santa Fe, just in case his end is actually coming soon. There's nowhere else he would want to die.
  • As Latour heads back into town, he gazes at the big yellow cathedral that he had built. If you remember, this is the same building he's dreamed about leaving behind after he dies.
  • While he stares at the church, his young companion Bernard talks about how beautiful the sunset is.
