Warden and Holmes

Holmes is Prewitt's antagonist, but maybe it would also make sense to also call him Warden's "foil." They're both vying for the same woman, and they're both higher-ranking soldiers than Prewitt (although Holmes outranks Warden), but their differences are pretty stark and obvious. Warden is competent and disciplined—a serious soldier. Holmes is petty, mean-spirited, and dumb as a brick. By the end of the movie, we've seen Warden demonstrate his superiority while Holmes' inferiority is finally recognized. Fist pump.
