- A shot of the Paris streets fades into Aunt Alicia going up the stairs to Gigi's.
- She walks right in the door and asks her sister to repeat what she's said on the phone.
- Madame Alvarez repeats that Gigi doesn't want to "date" Gaston.
- Aunt Alicia complains that she must have sold it incorrectly, over-emphasizing the hardships of the arrangement. She should have told Gigi about how wonderful and exotic love can be: Italy, moonlit gardens, and all that.
- Madame Alvarez says that since she's never been "further than the Riviera" she doesn't know to say anything like that. And what happens when it's over?
- What difference could it make, Aunt Alicia says.
- Madame Alvarez says it makes a big difference to Gigi.
- Aunt Alicia calls them both fools. The doorbell rings.
- It's Gaston, to the sisters' surprise. He's received a note from Gigi saying she wanted to see him.
- Madame Alvarez invites him in and fetches Gigi as Gaston and Aunt Alicia try to make awkward small talk.
- Gigi emerges from her bedroom, seemingly dizzy at the sight of Gaston. She says she's been thinking, and she wants to be with him no matter what. Then she retreats to her bedroom. She doesn't seem all that happy about it.
- Silently, but with a smile, Gaston leaves. No huff. The sisters are stunned.
