Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane)

Character Analysis

Sorry, Hagrid fans: Hagrid doesn't play a super huge part in this film. His main claim to fame? Showing Harry the dragons before the first task in the Triwizard Tournament—you know, to give him half a chance of surviving.

Oh, and he does get a little bit of a flirtation going with Madame Maxime from Beauxbatons. Harry becomes wise to Hagrid's affection for the headmistress pretty quickly when, as they are going to meet her/the dragons, Harry realizes that his friend has been primping:

HARRY: Hagrid, have you combed your hair?

Apparently this is a huge "pulling out all the stops" kind of deal for Hagrid. He's not really in the mood to be questioned about his romance, though:

HAGRID: As a matter of fact, I have. You might like to try the same thing,
now and again.

Oof. Okay, the Q&A section of the evening is clearly over.

Other than all that, Hagrid keeps a surprisingly low profile in Goblet.
