Character Role Analysis

Douglas

If the antagonist is the character who stands in the way of the main character getting what he wants, Douglas is your classic bad guy. He's nefarious, evil, power hungry, and has no moral standards whatsoever. Seriously—he kidnaps Sam with the intention of drawing out his power and then killing him. Can you get any more antagonistic than that? We think not.

Nonetheless, he also makes for a formidable adversary for our hero. Because Douglas's goal is to annihilate Sam before Sam becomes more powerful than him, the story eventually morphs into an epic Battle of the Necromancers that lends extra tension to its conflict. So thanks, Dougie.
