Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Scene 12 Summary

  • As day breaks, we see Wayne hard at work repairing his shrink ray. Finally.
  • The kids are huddled up inside the Lego brick, with what looks like a makeshift grave for Antie outside.
  • Cue quick pee break. Nature calls.
  • We cut back inside to see Wayne fast asleep beside his machine. Dude's been working hard.
  • Remember the kid that Nick convinced to mow his lawn at the beginning of the movie? Well, he's just arrived to do so. That's bad for our heroes for, uh, obvious reasons.
  • As the kids get up, they hear a rumbling and loud buzzing. It's the lawn mower. Uh oh.
  • The kids run away in horror as Tommy perpetrates an accidental near-massacre. They hide in a convenient hole that Nick says belongs to an earthworm.
  • As the Szalinski parents work on the shrink ray, they hear the noise of the lawn mower and rush outside.
  • Tommy stops the lawn mower right over the hole where our heroes are hiding. They're almost sucked up into the machine, but manage to hold on. In the end, they're launched back up the surface.
  • Everyone looks beat up, but no one has been chopped to piece. We'll count that as a win. Even better, they've been launched right next to the house, mere meters from their parents' faces. They still can't hear the kids' cries, however.
  • Enter Quark. The kids grab hold of the pup's fur and tell him to "find dad." Quark even encounters his feared cat foe at the door, but finally manages the courage to bypass him.
  • Quark jumps up on the table and lets the kid off. Unfortunately, he lets Nick off right in the middle of Wayne's bowl of Cheerios.
  • As Wayne takes scoop after scoop, the kids desperately try to draw his attention. At the last moment, Quark bites Wayne on the leg and stops him from eating his own son, Chronos-style.
  • There's just one problem: The shrink ray still isn't working. As the parents get to work trying to figure it out, the kids signal to them that it was the baseball that made the machine work. This makes sense to Wayne: the ball had blocked the laser.
  • Big Russ doesn't want to use it on the kids until they test it on something living, however. Wayne volunteers initially, but then Big Russ surprises us all by volunteering himself.
  • Thankfully, it works.
  • Finally, the kids step up the plate. As they wait for their parents to shoot the laser, Ron asks Amy to an upcoming school dance. She accepts. Aww.
  • Even better, to machine works like a charm, restoring everyone back to size. The kids share a warm embrace with their parents.
  • Both Thompson kids tell their dad that they'll do whatever he wants, but the old man has clearly changed, telling them that he wants them to be themselves. He even shakes hands with Wayne.
  • While focusing on this handshake, we cut to both families as they prepare to enjoy a turkey dinner. The turkey happens to be gigantic, due no doubt to Wayne's magical machine.
  • Also, Amy and Russ are playing footsies under the table. Keep it PG, kids.
  • The movie fades out on Quark enjoying a giant milkbone. Delicious.
