Spirits

Whether Tendai is communicating with them through the ndoro, or just acting as a host to the mhondoro, he's always clued in to what the spirits have to say. They help guide him. For instance, when he's scared that Kuda might die of chicken pox, Tendai prays to the spirits. They also help him battle the Masks in the final fight. We might not be able to see the spirits, but we know they are there, helping Tendai find his way. Who could ask for a better mentor than an ancient spirit with cool superpowers?
