Thelma & Louise Scene 4 Summary

  • Okay, time to regroup. Thelma and Louise check into a cheesy motel and try to figure out what to do. We mean, they just killed a guy, for Shmoop's sake.
  • Thelma wants to go to the cops.
  • Louise thinks no one will believe their side of the story. For Louise, cops = homicide charges for her, and the rape won't be taken seriously since Thelma was drinking. (Sound familiar, 21st century?)
  • Instead, Louise decides to contact her sometime-boyfriend Jimmy, who's channeling some serious Elvis vibes, and asks him for a loan that matches her life savings, to be repaid later. She wants him to wire the money to Oklahoma City, but she won't give him any details about what's up. But we know she's gonna stay on the run.
  • Thelma doesn't get it when Louise insists on not going through Texas to get to Mexico.
  • Louise hates Texas, but we don't know why yet.
