Exactly how steamy is this story?

In between action scenes and battle wounds, Ellie finds herself in smooch city. Actually, Ellie and Lee get a bit steamy in a tent, and do a little more than kiss, too, but it's nothing a thirteen-year-old kid hasn't thought about a hundred times already or gossiped about with friends. And mostly Ellie is vague. She alludes to steaminess by saying things like, "I didn't want to spend hours with him talking about life; I wanted to spend hours with him making animal noises, like sighs and grunts" (15.27). In other words, we don't see her doing these things, though we can imagine what she means.
