Math

You've heard the English teachers gush about Shmoop Literature Guides in the breakroom. The counselors can't get enough of the College Profiles. Think we've forgotten the stalwart math teachers? Don't be irrational.

Check out these seven resources that will make wowing your students a piece of π.

1. Math Shack

Think of Math Shack as the dojo where your academic ninjas can hone their minds into lean, mean, thinking machines. Infinite problems (literally), tips, and step-by-step explanations will help students build confidence to tackle any mathematical concept.

You can assign Math Shack drills so each student can work on what they need most, or you can plaster it on the wall with your SmartBoard (or not-so-smart board) and drill together as a class.

We've got a whole article devoted to Math Shack Best Practices, so head over there for more deets.

2. Math Learning Guides

If you thought Shmoop's Learning Guides were just for the English teachers, think again. Check out Math Learning Guides for Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus and Calculus.

Each guide includes in-depth review (see ya lata, textbooks), click-through examples, quizzes, and handouts to print and use in class.

Did we mention it's all free? Check out our article on how to best use these Learning Guides for even more.

3. ShmoopTube Videos

A picture's worth a thousand words, so a video must be worth... a thousand words times... however many frames the video has?

That's a lot of words.

Keep your class both entertained and engaged with dynamic and helpful videos covering everything from percents to polygons.

Want some tips on using Shmoop Videos in class? We've got a guide to that.

4. Math Courses

If you like the free Learning Guides, you'll fall unconditionally and irrevocably in love with our Math Courses (and yes, we did lift those adverbs straight from Twilight).

Each course is standards-aligned and includes intros, readings, problem sets, click-through examples, and solvable examples. Let your students interface with Shmoop's Online Courses while you finish the mounds of grading you have left, or just pillage our material for use in your own lesson plans.

Click here for more info on how to incorporate Shmoop Courses into your curriculum.

5. Response to Intervention

You love math. We love math. But for some of your students, solving a system of equations is about as appealing as picnicking with polar bears.

Shmoop's Let's Conquer Math is a Response to Intervention (RTI) product to help students work on the areas they need it most. It features a diagnostic test (with infinite problems, so you can assign it over and over... and over) and targeted practice to sharpen those skills.

Intrigued? Click here for more details on how you can use our RTI product in your class.

6. Test Prep

Are your students preparing for an AP® Exam or SAT Subject Test™? Each Test Prep includes a diagnostic exam to identify strengths and not-so-strengths, in-depth topic review, targeted drills, and multiple practice exams. The best part? You can keep track of their progress with our virtual classrooms and gradebook.

7. Common Core Help

Love it or wish you could leave it, Common Core is here for the long haul, and you'd best know your stuff. Let Shmoop help you navigate the Common Core Standards. We'll translate them into plain English (or Spanish), give you sample drills, and point you to Shmoop lessons or resources to keep your classroom congruent with the requirements.

So venture forth and impress your class with something a little more exciting than your 20-year-old VHS of Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land. (Yeah, we still have that one, too.) These resources will help you discover even more ways to share your love of math with your students.
